Why is it so hard to quit smoking?

At the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, my business like many others stopped instantly! If you rely on seeing people face to face social distancing and fear will do that.

I thought as the virus attacked the lungs many smokers would be motivated to quit as they will need them working effectively if they were infected. So I advertised smoking cessation on line at a very affordable price expecting a flurry of phone calls.

To my surprise, the response was Lukewarm at best! It wasn’t about the cost it was the belief that it was too late, so no point in stopping now, I’ll leave it to fate.

In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have been surprised. I have used hypnosis for smoking cessation since I began practicing with varying success. I worked out after a couple of years of trying different approaches but the results depended more on my clients motivation than on my skill as a hypnotherapist. Most smokers wanted me to quit for them but unfortunately, change always has to come from within.

Now when I get asked to help someone quit smoking I always ask this question. “Honestly, out of 10, how much do you really want to quit?” Most say 7! They don’t really like it but it relaxes them and they worry a little about their health in the future. I tell them to go away and come back when they are a 10! If they honestly say they are a 10 and really want to quit, I help them.

Theres nothing good about smoking so stop kidding yourself. If you smoke, everything around you stinks, your breath, your clothes, your car etc etc. It’s really bad for your health and takes years off your life! It’s also really expensive!

Quitting smoking is easy if you are motivated, so if you are a 9 or a 10 give me a call and I’ll help you to stop.
