There is no such thing as perfection in life but if there were it would be a beautiful new born baby, yet to be exposed to an imperfect world run by imperfect people. Children are born with inquisitive minds, eager to absorb information, fearlessly explore and learn new things. Anything is possible to a young child.
As they grow children are exposed to their carers imperfections and introduced to the rules of life, that they have to obey. ‘You must behave like this and you can’t do that.’ Like sponges they absorb information from those around them, their well meaning carers unwittingly programming them with their own fears. Up until 5 years old children are allowed to fall over, spill drinks and use the wrong words but then they go to school where mistakes are frowned upon and they are exposed to their peers judgement.
The innocence of childhood now becomes a distant thing of the past. They only have a few years of experience to make sense of the world and face up to the slings and arrows fired at them from life.
It really is no wonder that lots of peoples problems and bad beliefs began in those early years where the majority of your life worth of experience was learned. They say that by the time a child is aged 5 they have learned about 60% of their lives worth of knowledge so its hardly surprising that this is where most peoples issues started. Two of the biggest issues that cause people problems are perfectionism and people pleasing.
The only problem is that most people’s memories don’t go back that far and conventional talk therapies don’t have access to those early childhood memories, but hypnotherapists can, using hypnotic age regression techniques.
